Request for clarification about {advert} tag placed on article
Hi Nancy,

Earlier this year, you reviewed an article of mine and indicated that the {advert} and {notability} tags should remain at the top of the article. While in the generic case, I'm glad users are sifting through the changes that are being made, In the case of this particular article (Jewellery Design and Management International School) I cannot see what content you find advert-like.

The school is a formally registered entity, and one of relatively few that exist around the world in this field; it is relevant and interesting to others in the industry be they potential students, competing schools, tradespeople, local and regional jewellery businesses looking for for an educated pool of potential staff or simply jewellery enthusiasts in the region - of these only the 'potential students' form any sort of target demographic.

The article itself has been modified by you and by me to rephrase some of its statements to indicate they are goals of the school rather than factual-sounding marketing-speak. The information contained within is not excessively verbose, nor does it make any recommendations whatsoever. Moreover, surfing the jewellery portal and categories that contain local schools, none of the smaller, equally niche and equally relevant schools are not subject to any such highlight for being written as advertisements - some of which are blatantly so (I'm not fishing for all similar small schools to be marked 'advert' but for the relevance of small, specialized education providers to be recognized and not categorically classified as some shmo peddling something.)

I do not want to remove the flags you have placed on the article out of respect for a dedicated editor, but I would appreciate your either reviewing and removing the advert tag, or clearly indicating why this article merits this type of attention. If I have a clear set of valid recommendations (presumably that do not discount the interests of those that operate within this niche) then we can edit the article and improve the wikipedia. Leaving stangant {advert} tags floating around can in no way improve the system/service.

Thanks for your consideration & assistance.

:Alex, sorry for the delay in replying, I have been away. I don't have time to read this properly right now but will try to later in the day. Hi Nancy. I think as you were the last person to delete the page, you also put on the block to prevent recreation. The reason the first article was deleted was because of his unnotability, however as it type this he is making his first full competitive appearance, this making him notable. Would it be possible to allow the recreation of the article due to the change in 'status'. Thanks Eddie6705 (talk) 19:23, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
:Actually it appears something has already been done. Eddie6705 (talk) 21:54, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Dear Nancy,

I certainly appreciate your promptness. You deleted my page while I was posting my explanation that the content is not eligible for copyright protection--even though I did appropriately site the webpage as the source for the content. Although you are correct that the website has a copyright line in the template that is on every page, the actual content included in this article is freely made available to all members, meeting planers and the general public which places it in the public domain. You'll notice one of the references was a site from the organization's past president listing all the same content to illustrate this point.

:Professor. As I suggested on the article talk page I really think you need to familiarise yourself with the copyright policy. The text you copied has a copyright notice on it. It is of no consequence whether the text is available to the public, it is still subject to copyright law. If the NSA is willing to release it under GFDL then there are various ways that they can go about it, again these are explained in detail if you follow the link. Kind regards, <span style="font-family:Segoe Script;color:#FF6600;font-size:14px">nancy</span> (talk) 19:03, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

User:Swamilive socks
Obvious sockpuppet of blocked user and persistent sockpuppeteer Swamilive. Lorries_and_owt and Stanley Collins. Reported at AIV, which seems to be napping. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 14:54, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
:Nevermind, Nancy. Lorries and owt was blocked by Black Kite. Indefinitely, too. So, we won't be seeing anymore vandalism from that user. Colin Jacobsen (talk) 15:11, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
::Sorry, Nancy. I deleted this section since Black Kite blocked the socks and you didn't seem to be around, but Swamilive restored it. It's probably less confusing for you to just leave it now. (This relates to Stan Jacobsen if that wasn't clear.) Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 15:18, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
:::I'm sure Nancy doesn't really mind, DelCarb. It's no big deal. Colin Jacobsen (talk) 15:20, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
