What I am working on:
zh template
[edit]- Replace (almost) all instances of "Chinese:", "Simplified Chinese:", etc with zh template
- Find all templates with pinyin and no tone marks and add them if necessary/possible
- add pinyin/simp/trad/Cantonese readings if necessary (though Chinese sidebar template may be a valid alternative in some cases)
- find templates with c= and if necessary replace with s= or t=
- In some cases CJKV could be a good alternative although it has issues of its own (trad always before simp, which is weird in regions that use simp)
- At some point could search for anything inside or not templates that has a / separating simplified and trad Chinese and replace with a or similar
lang|zh
[edit]- Wrap (almost) all Chinese text in this, noting that in some cases Japanese/Vietnamese/Korean will show up when using a regex search
- If possible add the writing system (hans, hant, (*and something for pinyin?????*) and also the region code (less important/arbitrary in some cases?) for now I am leaving it as zh if the simplified and trad forms are the same
- In many (most?) cases I am omitting the writing system and will come back to it later (write AWB plugin?), see below
- find uses of this that don't have a writing system and if necessary add them
- might also at a later date be worth going through all instances already marked as Hant/Hans and find any with characters that are (unambiguously) the other character set, as I know there is a misconception that all characters are traditional Chinese/mistakes may exist
- Or articles relating to Mainland China/Taiwan etc (Using Categories) that have the opposite character set
- should remove all instances of {{lang}} from {{cite}} templates.
examples of different templates in use
Ideas for templates/categories:
- articles needing pinyin (or with pinyin but need tones adding)
- similar for other romanisation systems etc
Please let me know if you have any questions about these or would like to help/do something similar
