Customizing[edit]
This user box must be customized to the user. Once customized, it will never need to be updated. Before closing out the template with the closing swing brackets, add the date of the beginning of sobriety by adding|year = (year)|month = (month--in numbers)|day = (day).
If a user who has been sober since July 5, 2007 added it to his user box on September 29, 2009. He would enter the template, with the following customization.

The code would then yield the following box:

The box then autocomputes the years, months and days of his sobriety.
This is a generic version of the 12 steps, a modified version of the Userboxes created by SonPraises, designed to cater to people with addictions other than alcohol. It is also gender neutral, and uses friendly, inspiring colors.
