Cathy Hirt is a resident of Fort Worth, Texas. She served on the City Council after winning a 1996 special election to complete the term of Kenneth Barr who had resigned the District 9 Council seat to run for Mayor[1]. In 1997 she was re-elected and served a full two-year term. Her total City Council service spanned the period from May 4, 1996 to May 1, 1999.[2]
After choosing not to run for another term, Cathy was elected President of the Fort Worth League of Neighborhood Associations and served from 2000 to 2002. [3]
Cathy Hirt ran for Mayor of Fort Worth in 2003 losing to former State Senator Mike Moncrief[4].
In 2005(?) Cathy Hirt was appointed by the Fort Worth City Council as a Member of the Executive Committee for the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, the independent policy-making board for Public Transportation in Tarrant County, Texas.
In 2008 Cathy was instrumental in calling for a moratorium on natural gas drilling permits within Fort Worth.[5]
Cathy and her husband Karl were both killed in an automobile accident In Budapest, Hungary on October 2, 2015. [6]
