Importance

[edit]

This attribute declares how important the article in question is to this wikiproject. It is based loosely on how aware the general population is, and therefore how likely they are to consult the Wikipedia on the subject.

The importance of an article may be adjusted by updating the importance attribute in the {{Jam bands}} template in the article's talk page. The four valid arguments for this attribute are:

  • Top — Subjects that are considered "fundamental" in the jam band sphere (Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers), or that general public has a minimal awareness of and that receive significant attention in the media (stem cell).
  • High — Subjects that are generally examined at the lower-division college level (RNA polymerase) or are only very briefly mentioned at the high school level (endoplasmic reticulum).
  • Mid — Subjects that are examined at the graduate or upper-division level (chaperonin, complement system) or are first closely examined at this level (RuBisCO).
  • Low — Obscure subjects that are known only to researchers in the specific field (UvrABC endonuclease).
