Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US is a fastener company based in Bryan, Ohio, United States. It is part of the German-based Altenloh, Brinck & Co Group (ABC), a manufacturer of fasteners for the construction industry and internationally known for its Spax brand. Spax screws were first introduced to the US market in 1997.[3]

History

[edit]

Trufast Corporation

[edit]

Altenloh, Brinck & Co US has its origins in the American fastener company Trufast Corporation in Bryan, Ohio.[4] The company started in 1980 as a screw wholesaler for roof fasteners before becoming a manufacturer of fasteners and tools for the commercial roofing industry. It was acquired by the Altenloh, Brinck & Co Group in 2006. Since then, Trufast and Spax fasteners have been manufactured here for the North American building materials and construction market.[5]

Altenloh, Brinck & Co

[edit]

Altenloh, Brinck & Co was founded in 1823 in Ennepetal, Westphalia, in the former Kingdom of Prussia. It is the oldest screw factory in Germany. Screws were exported to other countries as early as 1829, but it was not until the 1980s that the systematic internationalization of the business began. ABC US started in 1996 as a sales subsidiary in Charleston, South Carolina, to market Spax screws in North America.[6] Introduced to the European market in 1967 under the brand name ABC-SPAX as particle board screws that eliminated the need for pre-drilling, they created the basis for the economic growth of the ABC Group.[7]

Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US

[edit]

In 2010, the separate business units Trufast and ABC US were merged to form Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US with headquarters in Bryan, Ohio, and Trufast became a brand within the ABC US brand portfolio. A 100,000 square feet heat treat and packaging center is located in Pioneer, Ohio.[8]

In 2012, ABC US expanded its portfolio of industrial roofing fasteners through the acquisition of ES Products. The company was founded in 1953 and is based in Bristol, Rhode Island. The ES Products range of fasteners for low slope roofing was integrated into the Trufast brand.[9]

Rodenhouse Inc., a manufacturer of fastening systems for exterior building envelopes and facades based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was added in 2017. It was rebranded to Trufast Walls in 2021.[10]
