Semi-important things to know about me

I was born male, and identify as such.
I was born white, and sometimes I feel guilty about that.
I was born in the 1970s, but I didn't get to enjoy it.
I am an only child, and people regularly guess that, which annoys me.
I was against marriage, until I got married, and now I am mostly just confused about that.
The ∝ symbol in my signature is a nod towards my (once) propensity for fishing. Don't read too much into it.
I am non-religious. Most would probably describe me as "atheist," but I hate that word.
I stopped fishing regularly a while back because I felt bad for the fish.
I don't, as a rule, kill animals, with the exception of some bugs and snakes, but I still feel sorry for them.
Even so, I am okay with eating meat. In fact, I love it.
I am a really good cook. My speciality is sour cream mashed potatoes with cheddar, bacon and chives.
I think alien visitors to Earth are probably real. My current theory is that they are most likely time-travelers from the future.
My favorite comic book character is Spiderman.
My favorite book is There and Back Again by Tolkien, or possibly The Drawing of the Three by King, depending on when you ask.
My favorite move is the original Ghostbusters.
Lynyrd Skynyrd anthems make me cry.
I can build a fire in the soaking rain. It's a skill I wanted to include on my resume, but my wife said "no."
Dogs > cats, but I am leaning more toward cats the older I get.
