Abstract: The article focuses on U.S.-Russia relations during the administrations of U.S. President Bill Clinton and Russian President Boris Yeltsin. Topics discussed include the reasons domestic support was lacking for Yeltsin's market liberalization plan, the conflict between the U.S. and Russia in terms of the two countries' stand on the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the lessons that the U.S. should learn from U.S.-Russian relationship during the 1990s. Also discussed is the role of the U.S. in turning Russia off towards democracy and market liberalization after the Clinton-Yeltsin term. DOI:
