Robin Peter Matthews, born 26 January 1978, hails from Cape Town, South Africa, was born into a very musical family.

His father, Gerald Matthews, was a drummer in his earlier days and played with the likes of some well known South African artist: “Robbie Jansen”, “The Fantastics” (which later became “The Rockets”) and “The D-Fenders”. His late uncle, Anthony Matthews, (who was one of the best bass guitarist in his opinion) played for the band “Viper 6” The best band from Simon’s Town, Cape Town, which released a couple of 7inch singles back in the 1960’s. His father’s brothers all play the acoustic guitar and his Aunt’s husband, Percy Kindo, is a good vocalist and an acoustic guitarist as well. His Cousin, Cindy Carelse, is a very talented song writer/ composer with a beautiful singing voice. His brother, Randall Matthews, was his main influence into the music industry, teaching him all the ropes on how to become a DJ.

His remixing skill was later introduced by a very good friend of his, Otis Gore, who returned from New York, USA in 2000 with brilliant production software which sparked of everything. Otis, Randall & Robin started working with the programs and came up with some brilliant remixes which rocked the crowds in an infamous Cape Town night club “Club Vibe”. Some of Robin’s remixes included: Madonna – Like a Prayer (“Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams” & “R.A.W – Unbe” samples), Aliyah – Try Again (“Alan Braxe – Intro” samples) & 20 Fingers – Short D*** man (“20 Fingers – Lick it” samples). All the remixes were made with a cappella’s and samples from the original songs/artist but produced all the drums and some bass lines. In July 2006, Robin completed a Megamix “Back-2-House” which was intended to be played on Good Hope FM’s “Kinky Afro” slot but never made it to the radio station.

December 2005, his father, Gerald Matthews and uncle, Lionel Matthews, together with their team started building Robin’s very own little recording studio. During that time, Robin discovered two wonderful singing sensations, Cindy & Arlene Solomons who became Luminiz (related to the word lucere which means "to shine").

4 September 2006, Robin left South Africa for 18 months which he spent in New York, USA. In April 2007, Robin produced his very own track called "Feel this DEFF Dub" as well as two amazing Club Mixes: “Michael Jackson – Rock with you” & "Lumidee - Never Leave You". He also compiled a number of various drum samples while in the USA before returning to Cape Town.

14 July 2007, was the best time in his music life when he had the privilege of seeing a legendary band “The Stylistics” live, celebrate their 39th Anniversary. True legends have been singing since 1968 without skipping a beat!!
