I am a first and foremost a Christian, an American, and student of the wonderful school of life. I am a coffee drinker, a stickler for grammar, and proudly a native english speaker who loves to help english language learners find their way around the rules of the language. I am of a very mixed heritage, mostly Scottish, Welsh, German, and Norwegian. I am on the path to earning a PhD in Statistics, although that may be 4 or more years down the road.
My primary focus is on helping out with the NPOV, perhaps the most important of Wikipedia's values, in articles related to sensitive current political/social issues. I have found in the past that many of these have a bias, ranging from slight to unsettling. I work mostly through talk pages and discussion with fellow users of the site rather than directly editing.
Unfortunately in that respect Wikipedia reflects the media, necessarily, because of the requirement for sources from the mostly biased media, Wikipedia is necessarily biased. I'm not sure what we can do to change that. But it's something we should work on.
