Oligomerisation is a chemical process that links monomer units to form dimers, trimers, tetramers or longer chain molecules. IUPAC defines oligomerisation as the process of converting a monomer or a mixture of monomers into an oligomer.[1]

Examples

  • In biological system, examples are conversion of nucleotides into oligonucleotides and amino acids into peptides.[2]
