About him

[edit]

Kotonoha-tombo was born and brought up in Shikoku, the fourth largest island in Japan. Since his earliest time he has been very fond of insects, such as butterflies, bees, beetles, and especially dragonflies or damselflies. Their flying forms do always appeal to him. The name tombo (蜻蛉/トンボ) means Odonata in Japanese. Then, what does it mean "Kotonoha"? The word kotonoha (言の葉/ことのは) came from kotoba (言葉/ことば) owing to his zeal for language (kotoba, gengo(言語)). He has been fascinated with the fact that one can express his or her feelings by the tool and that the working have enabled us to be handed profound knowledge down to posterity.
