I'd really be interested in you being able to source the edits you made concerning Technician Fourth Grade. I'm afraid I find the claim that they were all combat specialists a bit hard to swallow. My own father was a T/3 as a cook, and while an army does travel on its stomach, I wouldn't call that a combat specialty myself. Caerwine Caer’s whines 22:31, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please at least use proper wikiformating when you edit that article? Use the Show preview button as well to check your edits. Caerwine Caer’s whines 05:27, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The date of establishment of that rank is January 8 not September 8. Indeed, it would be nonsensical for the insignia to have been changed on September 4, 1942 if the rank didn't exist until four days later!. Caerwine Caer’s whines 23:14, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Technical Sergeant is an entirely different rank that predates the establishment of the three technician grades. Absent a source for the claim that a T/4 was called by a the name of a different rank, it will be removed. Caerwine Caer’s whines 23:20, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Still waiting for a verifiable source for what you claim. The sources that I've located don't support your assertions at all. At best they indicate that some people used different informal spellings for the informal abbreviation of Technician, which makes sense since both Tec and Tech are pronounced the same. Unsourced personal recollections, while interesting, do not meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy for what should be included in articles. Without that element of verifiability, it is original research or writing and Wikipedia has policy of no original research. Caerwine Caer’s whines 23:36, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You state your father was a Tec 3 or Tec Sergeant, why don't you ask him? Or you can go to the many veteran cemeteries and non veteran cemeteries and see that Veteran Markers are inscribed with Tec. What is on your fathers if he is in fact deceased or did you even get a veteran marker for him. I hope that he was properly remembered if in fact you are telling the truth regarding him. I am a member of Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge if he was also I would be happy to talk with him. Thank You

My father is dead and since he was later in the Air Force during Korea, it is is marked with his rank in that service instead. Caerwine Caer’s whines 01:47, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While they were already linked from the U.S. Army enlisted rank insignia of World War II I've added two references to this article. Both use Tech and not Tec. Neither indicates that this rank was ever refered to as Tech Sergeant, altho one does indicate that they were often refered to as simply Sergeant. If you want to make the change you keep making, please find some sources that indicate to back it up. I'm not willing to accept "because I said so", to override what the U.S. Army Institute of Heraldry indicates what was used. Caerwine Caer’s whines 02:32, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I never said because i said so. are you really the son of a world war 2 veteran, my son would never speak to someone older than him the way you speak to me. You know so much but you know very little. Thank You

I go by what sources I have. If you have sources that contradict what those sources have, I'll certainly consider them, as I'd prefer original sources from World War II, but so far you have not provided any verifiable sources for the edits you have made. Caerwine Caer’s whines 03:40, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As I have said previously talk to World War II Veterans-- look at their web pages, read articles from Veteran Website or contact your local V.A. We were Known as Tec Sergeants. We were specialist who could be designated as 2nd in command of a squad if needed during combat by a sergeant. We were Combat Specialist as opposed to combat command as a sergeant was. Thank You

If what you say is true, then you should have little difficulty finding and providing the sources to back your claim. That's all I'm asking you to do, provide the sources to back up what you have to say. The sources I have come across do not substantiate what you claim. I hope my latest edit to this article will satisfy both our concerns. By the way, it is considered good form to sign your comments on talk pages such as this, and that can easily be done by using a series of four tildes "~" at the end of your comment. The server will then replace that with your user name and the time you made your comment. Caerwine Caer’s whines 19:48, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hope my latest edit will satisfy both our concerns Thank You— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kellygorge (talkcontribs)

No, but perhaps mine will. However unless you can provide a source indicating persons holding the rank of T/3 or T/4 were called Tech Sergeant when the higher rank of Technical Sergeant existed, frankly I won't believe it and will delete any attempt to include it.
