November 2017

[edit]

Hi ΣΨΦ, and Welcome to Wikipedia. For the time being, I have reverted your recents edits on Jun Sung Ahn. They need to have reliable references that are not from places like social networking sites such as Instagram. See here: Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. I, also, will help by continuing to look for a good reference for this information on Ahn's new release "When I Call" along with you. You may ask me any questions here or on my talk page.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 03:40, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have looked at the policy some more and have decided to revert my edit on the addition, with an explanation....(other editors may disagree with me and delete it again). In general, we try not to use social networking sites like Twitter and Instagram for citations, and an entire article must not be based on them. However, I see the rule as allowing for exceptions, and the release of a music video is "neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim" and "There is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity" as the music video can be found on YouTube. But, let's not rely on his Instagram for future edits and both of us should keep looking for more reliable sources for this entry. OK? --Bonnielou2013 (talk) 04:17, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place at Talk:Jun Sung Ahn about the use of Instagram as a reliable source, in particular, for the edit you made. You may participate in the discussion there. In the meantime, after looking at the Instagram post again, I have removed your edit and my re-addition of it, as the post does not give the name of the music video or the date of release. Let's keep looking for a reliable source, OK?--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 08:14, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again ΣΨΦ, I responded also to your message on my Talk page. I just wanted to let you know why I also took off your addition in the first sentence on Ahn's page - the stylized name of JUN. The present references attached to that do not say anything about him using the name, although it is on his music video on YouTube. And I took off JuNCurryAhn that someone else stuck in there, without a reference. I made this mistake myself on another page, and had a more seasoned editor take it off saying it needed several instances of using the name....or more than one citation.

I think it is easier to learn by making mistakes on Wikipedia, as there are so many rules and regulations, and many are hard to understand! But, they advise to "Be bold in your edits".....so please keep on making edits and learning....it is a lot of fun! Thanks for joining Wikipedia and the Korea project team - to improve and add to Korean articles! Talk to you later!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 06:22, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
