Whitbybird

[edit]

HI. User:Jeraphine Gryphon has done a bang-up job in getting the Whitbybird article back on track. Take a look. If you want to make changes to the article, do so on the article's page. On the other hand, if you want to talk about, ask questions, or get feedback, please use the discussion tab or post it on my talk page. Best, --Igoldste (talk) 13:21, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Username and COI issues

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Newcomen) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. However, I noticed that your username (Newcomen) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it represents the Newcomen Society and you can't represent an organization in your username. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account to use for editing. Thank you. -- Atama 17:32, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for offering to change your username. I can't do it myself (I'm an administrator but only a bureaucrat can do it) but you can make the request yourself at WP:CHUS and they will take care of it. If you have any problem with the request, or have any other questions, please let me know (you can ask on this talk page since I have it on my watchlist, or on my talk page as before). -- Atama 18:27, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
