The Reason
[edit]Thought at great length about why there is so much good and so much bad on planet Earth, and I've come to the conclusion that both are necessary. It seems there cannot be one without the other, for each can be known by its contrast to the other. We human beings are an aggressive lot, but then all life on Earth has had to be very aggressive in order to get where we all are today. It is our inherent and instinctive propensity toward fighting for survival that has ensured our continued existence over time, well, so far at least. And it is the very reason why I find it impossible to accept that human beings are the highest form of life in the Milky Way Galaxy, let alone in the Universe.
Yes, there are higher forms of life, advanced so much more than us that they can easily hide from us when and if they want to hide. If on rare occasion they are "caught", most people just sluff it off to others faking it (or having hallucinations). Those advanced beings, I'll call them "high techs", are probably the ones who regulate our oxygen supply and other things we need. They probably seeded this planet (several times) and played a distinct role in our evolution. From our viewpoint they seem like "gods"; however, they are most likely corporeal life like us and very long-lived. Or they might be very advanced artificial life forms.
We cannot rule out the possibility of a spiritual existence; however, there is no hard evidence for it. That means that if we want to believe in a spiritual realm, which may defy the laws of science, we are compelled to accept it on faith... and faith alone.
I've already stated that it's my belief (for what that's worth) that we are all here to learn things, mostly things having to do with good and evil. So the reason there is no possible way to completely eradicate either one is because they are necessary for our edification. And that is the reason there is good and evil on planet Earth... so that we may learn and make a choice. Do we want to be and do good, or do we want to be and do evil? Each of us must choose how we want to proceed.
Make a decision
[edit]Sometimes making a choice is a very hard thing to do. Sometimes I have a lot of difficulty with choices myself, and it can be so much more difficult when more than one person is involved. When two or more people must make a choice it can come easy like falling off a log, or it can be a most difficult, even impossible process. And I have yet to figure out why that is. Why is it sometimes so easy to build a consensus, and yet other times it's difficult to impossible to get people to agree on something. It's kind of odd, because I've become very good at assessing consensus as defined by this project; however, I'm still quite the novice when it comes to building such a consensus.
Spent many years closing discussions on Wikipedia and elsewhere, and the vast majority of those closures go uncontested. Of the few that are contested, most are amicably resolved with no further action while only a very few come under the scrutiny of review by uninvolved and involved editors... very few. So again, while I've become a good closer who can accurately determine whether or not there is consensus and, if agreement exists, exactly what that consensus is, I have yet to figure out how to help bring a discussion to agreement, to consensus. And that can sometimes be a major failure on my part. I've seen it done many times, I've seen consensus build and bear fruit, but in most cases I have not been able to come to an understanding of how it's done.
