Welcome![edit]

Hello, Swm-web, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 17:56, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. If you prefer to be unblocked for the purpose of changing your username to a username which complies with our username policy, so that your contributions with this username are recorded as contributions of your new username and rather than creating a new account, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice instead. Thank you.

Request reason:

Hi Orangemike, thanks for the information. I'm very sorry to have violated the Wikipedia policies. I did not intend that. This account was created because there is a page about the company I work for in Wikipedia (that was created by someone else). And this page contained out-of-date information (like number of employees etc.) So I wanted to update it. I am very aware that I have a conflict of interest here, that's why I stick to updating hard facts that are also published in the annual report and updating URLs of links that have changed. I would rather if someone else would update this but as the company is a German one and not very important internationally I thought that it would probably not happen or only very late. So if there is another way to update the page, not by me but by a neutral Wikipedian, then that would be fantastic. I could just provide the newest figures (and sources, of course) and someone could check it and decide whether it's ok to publish them. Otherwise I could make the changes myself and someone checks them before publishing (but that's the normal way anyway, I thought). Anyway can I change the user name to make it appropriate and be unblocked? How? Swm-web (talk) 07:22, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. For what it's worth, I personally think this aspect of Wikipedia's username policy is stupid. If someone involved in a company is editing, then isn't it better that they make that fact clear, rather than hide the fact? However, that is the policy, so please do comply with it. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:15, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
