Van Pelt Elementary School, located in Bristol, Virginia, is part of the Bristol Virginia Public School system. The school was built in 1975 and was named after Joseph B. Van Pelt who was superintendent in the 1960s. There are grades 1-5 including kindergarten and pre-kindergarten. In 2010, there were approximately 400 children in the school.
Suncrest Park is on the campus of this school with trees and wildlife. The school is actually on a cave which was filled in when the school was built. There is also a grave marker for Miss Jones who lived on the campus about 100 years ago.
