Vent-Axia is a British manufacturer of ventilation, heating and air conditioning equipment. Located in Manor Royal, Crawley, West Sussex.[1] The company has been operating since 1936, when the company invented the world's first electronically operated window fan.[2]
History
The company was originally incorporated on 28 January 1933, and as Vent-Axia Limited private company on 4 April 1936, to produce and sell ventilation equipment.[3][4] During World War II, the company was scheduled under the Essential Works Orders, and most of the output was for government departments or government contracts.
In May 1946, the company acquired a new factory in Putney with 18,000 sq ft of floor space. In 1947, the company became a public company with shareholders.[4] In 1957, the company, along with subsidiary Axia Fans, agreed a ninety nine year lease on a new 4.5 acre site at Manor Royal in Crawley.[5]
Products
Vent-Axia introduced the world’s first Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) fan in 1992. SELV was designed for the extra safety that is required in domestic bathrooms.[2] Recently, the company has introduced a range of LoCarbon domestic fans, using DC motors which reduce energy consumption by up to 90%, when compared to variants using AC motors. In 2017, the company released their new Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) unit titled PoziDry Pro.
The revolutionary product designed for pressurising homes uses Smart Sense Technology to record, and control input air levels.
Sponsorship
The company is a prominent supporter/sponsor of the British Superbike Championship.[6]
