About the event[edit]

A training session in how to edit Wikipedia, and a chance to put those skills to immediate use, improving and creating articles relating to the built and cultural heritage of the Maryhill area.

This session has been organised by the Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust in association with Wikimedia UK.

How do I prepare?
  • Create a Wikipedia account - It is particularly important for attendees to do this in advance. Please do not include the names of any organisations in your account name. You do not have to use your real name if you do not wish to, however you can if you would like! You are encouraged to include an email address in your sign up, as this will help with editing in the future, or retrieving your login details should you forget them.
  • Bring a laptop (wi-fi & power will be provided)
  • Learn about editing if you like: Tutorial, or Getting started on Wikipedia for more information. We will be using the Visual Editor - more information about that can be found here
  • Think about what you would like to edit about - please bring materials to bring with you on the day.
