Walkden High School is a secondary school in Walkden, Greater Manchester. Formerly on Birch Road, the school is now located on Old Clough Lane, and serves Walkden, Worsley, Linnyshaw, Roe Green, Ellenbrook and Boothstown.

In September 2011, the school moved into a brand new building off Old Clough Lane[1] as part of the government's BSF (Building Schools for the Future) agenda, a process whoes early planning stages had begun in November 2006. The culmination of that work is a building that offers accommodation for 1,500 pupils (compared to 1,200 pupils at the Birch Road site).

Subjects are organised into five different zones within the school. These include:

  • Global Zone (Humanities & Modern Foreign Languages)
  • Core Zone (Mathematics & English)
  • Discovery Zone (Science, Business Studies & ICT)
  • Expression Zone (Physical Education, Dance, Drama, Music & Media Studies)
  • Creative Zone (Design Technology & Visual Arts)

Pupils are placed into year groups: Year 7, Year 8, Year 9, Year 10 & Year 11. Each pupil has a Form Tutor and a Head of Year.

The new building is available for the community to use out of school hours and this is managed by Salford Community Leisure.

In January 2016, Walkden High School was judged to be a school which "Requires Improvement" by Ofsted.
