The Western International Market in Southall in West London, England is one of the principal wholesale markets in the London region. It is owned by the Hounslow London Borough Council and covers 86 acres (350,000 m2). The current market was built in 1974. It is close to Heathrow Airport and acts as a conduit for fresh produce airlifted to Heathrow to reach the retail and catering trades. The market will be relocating to a brand new purpose built site a few hundred yards from the current site on Monday 7 July 2008.
