Widett Circle
Widett Circle is a locale in Boston, Massachusetts that has long been used as a wholesale food market, but which has been proposed for several redevelopment projects. It is located between a bend in Interstate 93 and the MBTA rail yards, near the Massachusetts Avenue connector to I-93.
Potential uses for the site include:
- an additional rail layover for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA)[1]
- a trash recycling and transfer facility[2]
- a new 28,000 seat stadium for the New England Revolution soccer team,[3] though the team's owners are reportedly focusing on a parcel just north of the circle.[4]
- a temporary 60,000 seat Olympic Stadium for the 2024 Summer Olympics. See Boston bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics
The current occupants have expressed concern that eminent domain proceedings might be used to take their businesses for other uses.[5]

Although some people familiar with the discussions said the Kraft proposal could conflict with the Olympic group's efforts for the bigger stadium, others said there is enough room in the area to accommodate both facilities. The Olympic committee is focusing on a site on Widett Circle, just to the south of the city property, that hosts a collection of food wholesalers.
