This page is just a more vivid summary of the material presented at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment/A-Class criteria. It introduces nothing new, except elaborations of the brief criteria given at the official page, and is merely existent for the purpose of easier checking against the criteria. Only minor stylistic issues should need to be fixed, before the article is nominated at FAC.
An A-Class article is near featured quality, which exemplifies our very best work and is distinguished by professional standards of writing, presentation, and sourcing. In addition to meeting the policies regarding content for all Wikipedia articles, it has the following attributes.
- It is—
- (a) well-written: the prose is clear, to a reasonable degree;
- (b) comprehensive: a fairly complete treatment of the subject;
- (c) well-referenced: it is accurate, backed by a broad array of properly formatted citations to reliable sources;
- It follows the majority of the style guidelines, including the provision of—
- (a) appropriate structure: a system of hierarchical section headings and a substantial but not overwhelming table of contents; and
- (b) media: it is well-illustrated, with no copyright problems; and
- (c) suitable length: it stays focused on the main concept, with a size suitable for the topic.
- It approaches the standard for featured articles, which covers—
- (a) neutrality: it presents views fairly and without bias; and
- (b) stability: it is not subject to ongoing edit wars and its content does not change significantly from day to day, except in response to the A-Class process.
