Wolter Joseph Fabrycky (born 1932) is an American systems engineer, Emeritus Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech, and chairman of Academic Applications International.

Biography

Fabrycky studied Industrial Engineering and received his BS in 1957 from Wichita State University, and his MS in 1958 from the University of Arkansas. In 1962 he received his PhD in Engineering from Oklahoma State University.[1]

Fabrycky has been faculty member at the University of Arkansas and the Oklahoma State University. In 1965 he was appointed Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech. There he founded and chaired the Department of Systems Engineering, and served as Associate Dean of Engineering, and later as Dean of Research of Virginia Tech.[1]

Over the years Fabrycky received several engineering and systems engineering related awards. He was elected Fellow in the Institute of Industrial Engineers in 1978; Fellow in American Association for the Advancement of Science in 1980; and Fellow in the International Council on Systems Engineering in 1999. He received the Hotlzman Distinguished Educator Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers in 1990 and 1992; the Lohmann Medal from the College of Engineering at Oklahoma State in 1992; the Grant Award in 1994; the INCOSE Pioneer Award with Benjamin S. Blanchard in 2000; and the Wellington Award in 2004.[1]
