Yeduguri Sandinti Sharmila Reddy, known as Y. S. Sharmila, is the brand ambassador for the YSR Congress Party.

Public life

Y. S. Sharmila Reddy made headlines after she took up campaigning on behalf of the YSR Congress Party along with her mother Smt. Y.S. Vijaya Rajasekhara reddy in the absence of her brother from June 2012 in the united Andhra Pradesh state. The YSR Congress Party then won 15 of the 18 assembly seats for which the by-elections were held.[1]

Walkathon milestones

Sharmila began her 3000 km walkathon amid milling crowds on Oct 18, 2012, when she confidently declared, "I am YSR's daughter ; an arrow released by Jagan Anna. My name is Sharmila," she said in Telugu as Sharmila imitated her father's gesture by waving her left hand to the crowds.[2]

'Maro Praja Prasthanam' walkathon

Nov 24, 2012: Completed 500 km on 38th day at Julakallu in Mahabubnagar district.[3]

Feb 18, 2013: Completed 1,000 km on the 70th day when she reached Kondrapolu village in Nalgonda district.[4]

May 16, 2013: Completed 2000 km when she had arrived at Ravikampdu in West Godavari District.[5]

July 29, 2013: Sharmila sets record ... end marathon walk of 3112 km in 230 days.[6]
