The Greenhill School, is a non-Welsh speaking secondary school in the coastal town of Tenby, Pembrokeshire. With approximately 1400 pupils on roll, it is one of the largest secondary schools in Wales. Between September 1994 and July 2009, the head teacher was Christopher Noble who was then replaced by Janet Kingston, whose brother is well-known writer Russell T Davies. The school has gained a high level of achievement academically and in 2001 it achieved the Investors in People award. In its complex it has a sixth form centre for post-16 education, a futuristic building which was designed to be energy efficient and environmentally friendly, it was opened in 1999.
Children learn Welsh second language as a compulsory subject up to the end of their GCSE's before being able to continue or choose new subjects if they choose to stay for 6th form.
A new extension to the school has now been completed. The new development means that there are now new IT suites, new Design and Technology rooms (such as textiles and cooking), a renovated Art department and new Learning Support rooms. There has also been a redesign to the ground floor, opening out the area of the school. The school also has an award winning orchestra, whose conductor is Paul Rapi. The Orchestra has won the National Urdd Competition and got to the Music for Youth finals on a few occasions, and in July 2009 they came joint first. Steffan Ciccoti an ex-member and came 3rd in the 2009 young musician of Wales.
In the school year 2010-2011: Head Girl was Liz Longster and Head boy was Oliver Worley. Deputy Head Girl was Josie Green, and Deputy Head Boy was Nick Burnley-Hall. Presidents in Year 12 were Mollie Staples and Ryan Walters, whilst Vice Presidents were Angharad Thomas, and Iwan Izzard.
