Yvonne Lui Lai-Kwan(Chinese: 呂麗君,born in 1977) is a Hong Kong-based philanthropist.

Early life

In 1977, Lui was born in British-Hongkong. Her father is a middle-class boss of a plastic factory.[1][2]

Lui took part in Miss Hong Kong Pageant of 1998, but she failed.

Lui was educated in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. She received BSc and PhD degrees from King's College at University of London.[3] Since 2003, her family has amassed one of the largest collections of Western art, including masterpieces by Paul Gauguin and Andy Warhol.[4]

To further strengthen ties between Hong Kong and China, Lui was invited to be an Executive Director of the Hong Kong Beijing Association in 2015.[5]

She is also Honorary President of Hong Kong Federation of Women, a non-profit organisation of over 100,000 members that subsidises local organisations for women.[6] In 2008, she was named Executive Vice-President of the Executive Committee of Youth Movement. The body encouraged grass root support of the Olympic Games, and participation in sporting events. She is a trustee of Peking University and the Beijing University of International Business and Economics.

In 2007, Lui established an aid project that built local medical and sanitation clinics for remote communities in Hebei Province.[7]

Politics

In 2013, Lui was appointed as a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference for Beijing, a position she still holds.[8]
