Angela Beagrie was born in Edinburgh in 1978 and brought up in the Borders region of Scotland. She read for an MA in Modern European Languages and European Union Studies at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with Honours in 2000. She spent two years working in the European Parliament in Brussels, latterly as a policy adviser to the Socialist Group on enlargement of the EU, before moving to London for three years to work as the government's MEP Liaison Officer. In 2006 she moved to the Scottish Highlands to set up and run her own business, Glemoriston Manse.
