Reason: Arthur Kornberg received the 1959 Nobel Prize in medicine for discovering the mechanisms of DNA synthesis and replication, along with Severo Ochoa. In 1967 his team was the first to synthesize DNA in a test tube and created the first artificial virus. This photo shows him around 1950.
