Jimmy Carter and Anwar Sadat

Reason: One of the most significant accomplishments of Jimmy Carter's term as President of the United States was the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, which had several effects including Israeli withdrawal from the Sinai Peninsula and the eventual assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. Here Carter greets Sadat at the White House shortly after the Camp David Accords went into effect. Sadat was killed the following year. Restored version of File:Carter and Sadat White House.jpg.

        What's surprising is that in the mid-eighties when I started doing serious photography, most of the serious amateurs and pros preferred black and white. They were doing their own black and white developing, and color photography was considered lightweight stuff unless you paid a very pretty penny for premium developing (and even then you gave up control over the outcome).
