Java KeyStore

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 78.90.18.206 (talk) at 11:09, 3 December 2011 (added a link to a tool which extracts the private key out of the keystore). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

A Java KeyStore (JKS) is a repository of security certificates, either Authorization certificates or Public key certificates - used for instance in SSL encryption.

In Oracle WebLogic Server, a file with extension jks serves as keystore.

The Java JDK maintains a CAC keystore in jre/lib/security/cacerts. JDKs provide a tool keytool [1] to manipulate the keystore. keytool has no functionality to extract the private key out of the keystore, but this is possible with a third-party tool jksExportKey[2]
