From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Corvi Zeman is yet another geek with too many hobbies. Currently the list includes aviation, restoring an antique printing press, blacksmithing, kayaking, lampwork, glassblowing, scuba diving, japanese calligraphy, hiking, zero-gravity robotics, and music, but it's subject to change without notice. If I contribute an article, it's because I went to look something up for one of these hobbies and it wasn't here yet.

Amusingly, this means I mostly write about things I knew so little about I was attempting to look them up myself. I don't think this ends well, for me or the kitten.

Articles I would like to add or overhaul

[edit]
  • Electrostripping - this article's need to exist is the entire reason I joined.
  • Rhodes Gas - we have a page for Brown's Gas, which is the exact same thing, except invented forty years later and promoted by a free-energy snake oil crackpot.
  • Underwater diving - wierd article trying to cover about eight different things, all of them poorly. Also, most of the diving pages dealing with risks and hazards of diving inexplicably fail to mention nitrogen narcosis. I don't know if this is because it's primarily a deeper-water (> 30 m) hazard, or because people don't think getting narced is actually dangerous. Yay! Let's be drunk underwater!
  • Spark testing metals
  • Flame test - could use some elaboration on spectra physics.
  • Bernd Heinrich - because I'm a total fanboy of his
  • Circumzenithal Arc
  • Ice halo
  • upper tangential arc
  • parhelic circle
  • lower tangential arc
  • opposition effect - someone has redirected to retroreflector with no clear explanation of why, which I disagree with. So either edit that article to include discussion of the opposition effect (as natural retroreflection?) or undo the redirect.
  • atmospheric optics category, which I can't figure out how to link to - go through and add new articles, make sure there aren't unlinked ones I couldn't turn up off the top of my head.
  • quequisque, vaho, and pinolio
  • flesh hook suspension and suspension (body modification) have been supposed to be merged for nearly a year, and could use a heavy-duty rewrite involving risks and historical information. Besides, I have pictures and I'm all about inflicting trauma on random passerby.
  • Ape Cave
  • Osage language currently redirects to Osage nation. And there's precious little information available about it, in general. It took me several years to get my hands on the fifty-year-old books I have, which were originally BIA internal memo things. As I have information, and the internet does not, information osmosis compells me to write this article.
  • Whittier, Alaska I cannot believe there's none of the things unique about Whittier on this page - pictures, the arcology, discussion of the tunnel.

Articles I have added or overhauled

[edit]

People who are probably, even as we speak, working on more interesting articles than I am

[edit]
  • Solarbird's ability to painstakingly research and document the sordid history (speakeasies! prostitutes!) behind bucolic small towns should be an inspiration to us all.
  • Catamorphism - If the value of one's wikipedia contributions is inversely proportional to the articulateness of the idiots who vandalize one's user page for it, Catamorphism has fought off the Zlyx invaders and saved Earth two or three times already, all through editing wikipedia. Huzzah!
  • Flata is a nifty experimental wikipedia-based entropy engine powered by removing vandalism from the main body of wikipedia and adding vandalism to User:Flata and User:Corvi. Because foolishness on the internet might just be the first truly unlimited natural resource.
