Founded by Guitarists and Music Producer Gabriel Raphael, iLLuMiNaTiCa was originally called Spirituelized in 1985 and later changed names in 1990 with out contacting the commercial recording artists on Arista Records over the name.

The concept of the project was never meant to be commercial, and ended up been more less a controversial under ground artists personal side project.

Gabriel Raphael stated that the project is based on his own spiritual growth and journey, and the music was his own personal sanctuary.

The recordings first appeared on the internet in 1998, with selections dated since 1989 from a large collection of recordings by Gabriel Raphael who also posted information on the websites that the reasons he had delayed them was due for his waiting until the home recording technology became more advance.

Gabriel Raphael used a unique typography by posting texts mixing up letters within words with capitals so that people would know it was iLLumiNaTiCa., mostly based on lower case.
