Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

Thank you. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 19:25, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello PMDrive1061.

This username is the name of a nonprofit organization that specializes in the area of Diversity that would like to make educational and fact-based contributions to the articles of Wikipedia. I do have a username of ACOD as well, which I had asked to be changed to American Conference on Diversity, but we can revert to that if the name poses a problem. I think I just had a general concern that having our accronym standing out there was sufficient in the event that our user page is stumbled upon. I do understand that Wikipedia is not a site to be used for self promotion, and that is not our intent. Our intent as a user and our mission is to help provide content, facts and figures to help further education and understanding on the greater subject of diversity as it relates to populations living in the United States and other countries.

I myself am also still trying to learn what exactly the difference is between a username, a user, articles and contribution pages, so please let me know if this needs to change. I of course would like to remain within your guidelines so please let me know what I can do.

Thanks, User:American Conference on Diversity
