Abingdon Downs is a rural locality in the Shire of Etheridge, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2016 census, Abingdon Downs had a population of 0 people.[1]

Geography

The Einasleigh River flows through the locality from south-east to west. Its tributary, the Etheridge River, flows through the locality from south to west with their confluence in the west of the locality.[3]

The locality takes its name from the Abingdon Downs cattle station which, being approximately 445,000 hectares (4,450 km2), occupies much of the locality. Its homestead is located in the west of the locality (17°36′16″S 143°10′51″E / 17.6044°S 143.1807°E / -17.6044; 143.1807 (Abingdon Downs Station)) with the Abingdon Downs Airport immediately to the south.[3] As at 2016, the station was carrying 16,000 Brahman cattle.[4]
