The company was founded in
Janesville, Wisconsin in 1955 by brothers W. C. (William Charles) Blain and N. B. (Bert) Blain. The stores are owned by separate companies in a franchise arrangement, while the distribution is handled by the separate entity, Blain Supply Company. The Blain family still owns the [1 ] business.
