Holocene extinctions, biological taxa that went extinct during the current geological/paleobiological Holocene epoch of the Quaternary Period. Extinct plant/flora and animal/fauna species of the last 12,000 years (occurring from ~10,000 BCE to the present day. Rising extinction rates over the Holocene's millenea are mainly due to increasing human activities.
