Darts currently has two versions of the World Championship, following an acrimonious split in darts during 1992–93. The British Darts Organisation (since 1978) and the Professional Darts Corporation (since 1994) both currently stage an annual World Championship, with players only allowed to compete at one of the tournaments each year.
