2006 comments[edit]

The Category:Law organizations category is much larger. I suggest we merge these categories. --LQ 16:55, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They categories attempt to categories different things though, see the definition of Category:Law organizations, which inherits from Category:Legal organizations. Intangible 17:03, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Doh! You're right. But, they're not always used correctly, probably because the distinction between "law" and "legal" as a descriptor is not inherent in the term. For instance, the National Lawyers Guild doesn't regulate, nor do many other bar associations -- city bar associations, for instance. In fact, only some state bar associations regulate (e.g., California); others are voluntary associations and do not have regulatory functions (e.g., Massachusetts). That distinction is going to be verrrry confusing for people looking for associations, and finding some bar assns in one category and others in another. Maybe the useful distinction is "associations of lawyers" versus other law-related associations? ... or, perhaps, "Legal regulatory associations" as a subcategory of law-related associations? --LQ 17:57, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not used right at all. I renew the idea to merge. Nja247 (talkcontribs) 19:49, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
