Scope of the category[edit]

This category lists important phase transitions which belong to the realm of physics. It should not list every article related to such phase transitions, but only the main articles. It should also not list all variants of the same transition. There is some overlap with Category:Phase_changes, which has no clear scope and definition.

It might be useful to split the category in two subcategories: "Phase transitions with latent heat" (first order) and "Continuous phase transitions".

I consider the category of high importance to the Physics project. Phase transitions are one of the central (if not top) themes in physics research over the last two centuries. The main article certainly deserves such a rating, and the related category should do as well. Felix0411 (talk) 12:39, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Only articles get an importance rating within the project. Categories, projects, templates, etc. get "importance=na" by definition.TimothyRias (talk) 13:19, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
