Dayspring Christian Academy is a preschool to Grade 12 private, Christian school in Lancaster, PA.[1] Voted “best school” by Lancastrians in Lancaster County Magazine’s Best of Lancaster awards[2] in 2018,[3] 2019, 2020,[4] and 2021[5] Dayspring Christian Academy is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International[6] and Mid-Atlantic Christian Schools Association.[7] Dayspring Christian Academy offers dual credit and AP courses.[8] The school uses the kind of education that was prevalent in America during her first 200 years. Dayspring offers a form of classical education [9] including logic, rhetoric, Latin, Greek, the sciences, mathematics, history and the arts. This form of education, championed by abolitionist[10] and the Father of American Scholarship and Education, Noah Webster, as well as women’s education advocate,[11] Founding Father,[12] the father of American psychiatry, Benjamin Rush, places the Word of God at the center of every subject.[13]

According to Private School Review, Dayspring Christian Academy ranks among the top 20% of private schools in PA for student body, sports offered, and extracurriculars.[14] Additionally, according to Niche.com, Dayspring Christian Academy ranks in the top 5 Best Private K-12 schools in the Lancaster, PA area.[15]

Learning Space

Dayspring Christian Academy has 24 classrooms total as well as an auditorium and gymnasium, and administrative offices.[16]

Learning Levels (grades)

Dayspring Christian Academy has the following grade levels: preschool, prekindergarten, kindergarten, elementary school (lower school) grades 1 to 5, middle school grades 6 to 8, and high school grades 9 to 12. Additionally, Dayspring Christian Academy offers Honors high school for college-bound students who are academically gifted or high achieving.

Learning Services (for gifted students and students with disabilities)

Dayspring Christian Academy offers learning support services. The program is called P139 after Psalm 139. The program is designed to teach students at all levels who require alternate or differentiated methods of instruction. Levels of support offered range from mild to moderate (Daybreak program) up to profound learning and functional needs (Bright Horizons program). Dayspring Christian Academy also offers enhanced programs for students with a GIEP or who consistently maintain a 98% or higher grade average.

Athletics

Dayspring Christian Academy offers sports to middle and high school students, and clinics for elementary aged students. Middle school sports include boys soccer, girls volleyball, boys basketball, girls basketball, and track & field. High school sports offered include boys soccer, girls volleyball, golf, boys basketball, girls basketball, girls lacrosse, boys volleyball, and track & field. The school’s colors are red, white, and blue, and student athletes are called the Dayspring Warriors. The athletic logo is red, white, and blue with a warrior holding a shield and spear.[17]

Events

The Patriots Celebration Dinner

The Patriots Celebration Dinner is Dayspring Christian Academy's showcase event that features compelling student orations, musical performances, compelling media, delightful fare, and great fellowship. The event is annual, held in the fall.

Thanksgiving Exposed

Dayspring Christian Academy also offers Thanksgiving Exposed, a re-enactment of the Pilgrim Story. The tour begins with a walk through the timeline of Christian history that leads up to the Bible's arrival in the hands of the Pilgrims.

From there tour groups will be escorted through stations that highlight God's hand in establishing the Plymouth Colony in New England from their beginnings in Scrooby, England, through their escape to Holland, their heroic voyage to the New World, and their first year in the Plymouth Colony. The event is offered the third Friday of November annually.
