Draft:Ali Itbigah

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ali Al-Hussein Itbigah, born in Sirte, Wadi Jaref, Libya. Was a former General within the Gaddafi Regime. His rise in the military ranks was a slow and steady one, first starting in the Al Saadi Brigade then moving to the 219 Battalion. Ali Itbigh’s name came up after the Rebels broke through the Bab Al Azizia compound and found files which linked him to be the leader of the resistance in the west with the code name 01. Itbigh was one of Gaddafis most trusted allies and member of his inner circle, known to scare off any potential threat to the Gaddafi regime. The Generals name came up in many files linked with people found missing after their threat to the Libyan leader.

In 2011, shortly before the breakout of the first Libyan civil war, Gaddafi put Itbigah in charge of the Libyan Central Intelligence Agency mukhabarat Al-Jamahiriya as well as head of the Libyan military control rooms. Itbigah is mostly respected by his enemies as he’s never betrayed the regime, but his current whereabouts are unknown.
