Florence Harriet Rose Scott (born 1994/1995) is an English historian of women and queenship in early medieval England based in York.
Biography[edit]
Scott grew up in Goole, East Yorkshire. They graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2016 and a Master of Arts in Medieval Studies in 2017, both from the University of Leeds. They continued their studies at Leeds with a Research Doctorate, which they completed in 2023.[1]
In 2021,[2] Scott began publishing the Substack-based newsletter and podcast Ælfgif-who?, which profiles the biographies of early medieval English women, including the queens Æthelthryth, Balthild, Eadburh and other women like Burginda.[3] As of 2024, the Substack has over 30 thousand subscribers. Scott has also written in Medium and for publications such as Pink News.
