BIRTH

Mr Gabriel Oluwafunmi LAGBAYI is a native of Ilutitun-Osooro, a prominent community in Okitipupa L.G.A of Ondo State, Nigeria. He was born into the family of Pastor LAGBAYI Oluwatobi John (Agrifon Liliken Linage) and Mrs Olufunke Eunice (nee Igbasan from Oke-Orisa in the same community). Gabriel Oluwafunmi Lagbayi was born on Wednesday, the 11th day of May, 1994 as the first child of the union out of 7. His siblings are Oladimeji, Olajumoke, Olamide, Oluwaferanmi, Inioluwa and Boluwatife.

EDUCATION

Gabriel started his early Nursery and Primary school, at Fullstature N/P school, Okitipupa, Ondo State and in the year 2005, he graduated and got admitted into Emmanuel Royal College in the same community. He only attended there until he obtained his Junior Waec now known as BECE in 2007. He then proceeded to Trinity College, Oloruntedo in the same local government area and wrote his Senior School exams known as WASSCE where he obtained 1 distinction, 6 credits, 1 pass grade and thus graduated in the year 2012.

In 2013, he took the Joint Admission and Matriculation Exam (JAMB), scored an aggregate of 227, proceeded to enrol for Post UTME and scored 44 points which qualified him for admission into Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko still in Ondo State. He was offered Environmental Biology and Fisheries being 4 years course in the Faculty of Sciences.

Gabriel during his days in the university, attended the GSF which is a campus fellowship belonging to The Gospel Faith Mission International Church (Gofamint) and served in various capacities as Choir Coordinator as well as Technical Director until he graduated. He was very active in the department, elected as a member of the departmental Executve between 2015/2016 and served as the Assistant General Secretary under President Oyewo Bolaji Qudus (A.K.A Real-B). He served alongside Comrade Adebola Adejare Valentino, Endurance, Happydam, Seunzy, Honey boy, Matthew Mayowa, Sabastine glory amongst others.

Gabriel was a lover of sport as well and this prompted him to join the Football team who later won the HOD's Cup. He was the goal-keeper who made the penalty save which resulted in the victory.

In April 2016, he proceeded to Federal Department of Fisheries, Coastal Terminal, Igbokoda, Ondo State for his SIWES Program which lasted for 6 months and later graduated under his Project Supervisor Dr Olaniyi Wasiu Adekunle and Seminar Supervisor Dr (Mrs) Adelodun Fadare in 2018 with a Bachelor's degree (B.Sc. Hons). That same year, he was mobilized to observe a mandatory National Service Year (NYSC) at GDSS, Ijah-Gbagyi, a community in Tafa L.G.A of Niger State and passed out in year 2019.

CAREER

As a graduate of Environmental Biology and Fisheries, he showed special interest in Environmental management and this motivated him to take some courses in HSE Level 1 & 2 before enrolling for OSHassociation-UK HSE Supervisory course and upon successful completion of the course, he registered as Graduate member of the association.

He has worked with Bright-Oyet Oil and Gas Limited as an HSE Officer, with Peace and Joy Secondary School, Ilaje L.G.A as an Administrative Assistant and currently, he is working as an NHS Staff in England, United Kingdom.

He still loves to study more and help in making the environment a more safe place to live.

MARRIAGE/FAMILY

He got married to his dear wife Funto Toluwa Lagbayi (nee Ewegbeje of Igbobini community in Ese-Odo L.G.A) on the 23rd of April, 2022 and their marriage is graciously blessed. They currently live in United Kingdom.
