Maria Carolina Blanco Acevedo (born February 2, 1980), is a Venezuelan Born, American-Venezuelan Chess player. She obtained the title of National Chess Master at the age of 12 by the Venezuelan Chess Federation. Title of Woman Fide Master at the age of 17 and the title of [International Master] at the age of 19 by the world Chess federation F.I.D.E. Blanco is a 15-time Venezuelan National All girls and Female Champion in all sections: U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, U20 and twice female adult champion from the years 1988-2001.
- In 1989 she obtained 3rd place in the world youth championship in Aguadilla-Puerto Rico, in addition, in 1989 she was the U10 Girl's Pan American champion in Cubatao-Brazil[1]. In 1997 she was the U18 Girl's Pan-American champion in Itapiruba-Brazil[2]. In 1997 she obtained 2nd place in the Pan American Women's U-20 Championship held in Trujillo-Venezuela.
- In 1992 she achieved a unique national record in Venezuela by being All Girls/Female National Champion in 3 different age categories in the same year at the age of 12 (U12, U16 and Female Master Adult category).
Dr. Blanco has represented Venezuela in multiple chess tournaments in more than 30 countries and 4 biennial chess Olympiads in 1994 Moscow-Russia, in 1998 Elista-Kalmykia, in 2000 Istanbul-Turkey and in 2002 Bled-Slovenia.
Biography[edit]
Dr. Carolina Blanco, graduated as a Dentist in 2003 at the University of Carabobo-Venezuela. Dr. Blanco also completed a 2-year advanced postdoctoral course at the University of Campinas in Sao Paulo-Brazil, to become an orthodontic[3] specialist in 2006.
Dr. Blanco learned to play chess at the age of 5 and began competing in national and international chess tournaments at the age of 7. She has played highly competitive chess since her childhood. Her peak Venezuelan National Rating was 2230 points, year (2003) and her peak International F.I.D.E Rating was 2192, year (2001). Dr. Blanco has resided in the United States since 2006 in the State of Georgia where she expanded her careers in the business field of Orthodontics[4] and the chess[5] educational field[6]. Dr. Blanco[7] was inducted into the Georgia State Chess Hall of Fame in 2024.
