SHICHIDA Method（SHICHIDA Method of Education）is a japanese whole-brain educational method founded by Makoto Shichida in 1958 in Gotsu, Shimane, Japan.
History[edit]
Founder Makoto Shichida's career started as an English teacher in Gotsu, Shimane, Japan in 1958. Throughout his teaching years, he tutored children age ranging from toddlers to teenagers. He came across the younger a child was, the more capable they proved to be in assimilating substantial amounts of information and cultivating a profound passion for learning. This observation compelled Makoto to conduct research into developmental brain distinctions and teaching techniques for a span of 25 years. The outcome of this research led to the establishment of the Shichida Method of Education.
According to Makoto Shichida, “Shichida Education is a soul education. The main aim of the Shichida Method is not just to give children knowledge but to cultivate their heart and soul.”[1]
In 1976, Shichida opened the first centre in Gotsu, Shimane.
In 2000, Shichida opened the first overseas centre in Taipei, Taiwan.
In 2024, Shichida currently operates in 17 different countries across the world.
Shichida Learning Method[edit]
Makoto Shichida believes the love between the parent and child must be present before any whole-brain training can be effective. The right brain functions are activated through the love of the parent and child.[2]
Shichida Method aims to raise leaders for this century who possess big hearts that care about others and who can use their unique abilities to contribute to their country and the world at large.[3]
Based on the idea that love from parents is essential for a child's growth, the school's educational philosophy is to Love, Praise, and Accept and provides advice and support to parents on child-rearing.
SHICHIDA Method advocate Soul Education that nurtures children's hearts, love for others, dreams, and aspirations, and aim to educate the whole person based on intellectual, moral, physical, and dietary education. The method cultivates their hearts and emotions, then draws out their intelligence and talents. The key to opening up children's genius-like abilities and limitless potential is stimulating their brains. Love is essential for drawing these abilities out. Shichida Method education is based on "education of the heart," conveying "love" and developing "morality."
The method work on the excellent abilities of the right brain that humans have innately through various initiatives based on brain development theory, such as image training, card flashing, and mnemonic methods, and in conjunction with initiatives that use the left brain, such as reading, writing, and print learning, we develop abilities and knowledge.
SHICHIDA Educational Institute[edit]
Shichida Educational Institute, Inc. was incorporated in October 1978 and currently Ko Shichida (the son of Makoto Shichida) is the president and CEO.[4]
Shichida Centres in Japan[edit]
Currently Shichida run over 250 centres dometically and has centres over 17countries, together 350 centres* around the world.
Global Locations[edit]
In 2000, Shichida Institutional begun to expand internationally. There are currently 17 countries with officially certificed franchising licenses.
