Victoria Airport Authority is a Canadian non-profit organization that responsible for operating two airports near Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It was created in 1997 to replace Transport Canada, which relinquished control of airports across Canada in the late 1990s[1] as part of the National Airports Policy introduced in 1994.
The airport authority's governance is through a board headed by a President and 12 other board members. Only the board members are nominated by local governments, the province (by appointment), federal government (by appointment) and Chamber of Commerce.[2]
Unlike Vancouver Airport Authority which manages itself, Victoria's operating agency has responsibilities for two airports:
- Victoria International Airport - manages the 11th busiest airport in Canada[3]
- Victoria Airport Water Aerodrome
