Women in McHenry County (WiM3*), formerly known as Women in Management was a 501(c)(7) non-profit community-based networking and mentoring organization for women in McHenry County, Illinois. Members were women from all professional areas including licensed professionals, entrepreneurs (product or service), nonprofits, corporate government, and academics. From 1976 to 2021, the organization provided education, member mentoring, achievement awards, and educational scholarships for women.
The text below is taken from the membership brochure which was last updated in 2021 before the board decided to end the group and give financial proceeds to Educate to Empower (E2).
MEMBERSHIP Membership includes women from all professional areas including licensed professionals, entrepreneurs (product or service), nonprofit, corporate, government and academics. Since 1976 the organization has provided educational and mentoring opportunities to its members, award achievement recognition and educational scholarships for challenged women.
MENTORING Monthly networking and mentoring (MnM) brings a new opportunity to help members network with peers, share experiences, gain new insights and learn new approaches to grow personally and professionally.
AWARDS Women in McHenry County honors the memory of its inspirational founder, Charlotte Danstrom, through their annual Women of Achievement and Charlotte Danstrom Awards Program. The program is designed to acknowledge WIM3 members for contribution to Women in McHenry County, for professional achievement, leadership qualities at work, in the community, and support given to others through mentorship. Members are nominated each year by their peers to participate in areas of their expertise.
SCHOLARSHIPS WIM3 is dedicated to the process of developing long-term, mutually beneficial relationships and cultivating new opportunities for collaboration through a supportive exchange of ideas and resources. They fulfill this mission in their communities through scholarship opportunities offered to women pursuing higher education or additional professional certifications.
MISSION The mission of WIM3 is to provide an opportunity for its members to meet, be mentored and be motivated so they may aspire to be all they can in life, to promote the growth of the organization in an effort to offer these benefits to other women in McHenry County.
