Faouzi Chaouchi (born 5 December 1984 in Bordj Ménaiel, Boumerdès) is an Algerian professional football player who currently plays as a goalkeeper for Algerian Championnat National club ES Sétif and the Algerian national team[1].

International Career

He received his first call-up to the Algerian national team in February 4, 2008 for a training camp in France.[2] On March 26, 2008, he made his debut for Algeria in a friendly against DR Congo coming as a substitute at halftime for Lounès Gaouaoui.

In December 2009, Chaouchi was selected by Saâdane to play in the 2010 African Cup of Nations hosted in Angola. He is normally the second-choice goalkeeper under coach Rabah Saâdane, who has used Lounès Gaouaoui as his first-choice goalkeeper. But after Gaouaoui was struck down by an attack of acute appendicitis, Chaouchi ended up playing in the second leg of the World Cup playoff against Egypt, putting in a heroic performance to send Algeria through to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
